What an incredible morning at CrossFit Endurance this morning! My three classes were excited! They were excited because we all have Games Fever! CrossFit Games.
he Games began with a surprise event today at Camp Pendleton with a triathlon. It was audibly streamed on their website and to my excitement, my girl, Julie Foucher (see this blog) won the tri portion! Can I get a woop woop? Yaaaah!
On Saturday there will be a sprint WOD. It is a shuttle run where the athletes will sprint a distance of 50meters and back and then sprint a 100 meter distance and back! So, we replicated the WOD in my CrossFit Endurance classes this morning and all rocked it! Pics below!
I am peacing out tomorrow with an awesome group of CrossFitters to see the Games myself! So, look for pics and newsworthy notes on my Facebook and in the meantime! Have a rockin’ rest of your week!
This is the week the athletes report to Carson, California to check in and get ready for the competition of all competitions! That competition IS the CrossFit Games! Time does fly. I feel like it was just yesterday that the first WOD of the Open competition had many wondering how many burpees they could do in seven minutes. For me, this was really my first foray into CrossFit. I had started to go to the box in Chelsea just a few weeks prior and remember asking some of the trainers if beginners could compete. I did rock the WODs each week of the OPEN, doing my first ever snatches in week two of the competition.
Now, it’s GAME time. It’s incredible to think how far I have come since then in CrossFit, not only as a CrossFitter, but as a coach teaching CrossFit Endurance at the Black Box.
And, I have to laugh when I think about how much I DIDN’T know when I did the Open workouts in February. It makes me wonder if some of the Games athletes share this same ‘trip down memory lane’–of course on a much higher level.
One doesn’t need to be competing in this competition of all competitions to get excited about it.
You just have to head to a local affiliate to see why we all do what we do. Re-defining what is possible is MOST DEFINITELY the name of the game!
CrossFit IS the sport of fitness. The playing field, by virtue, of the moves is leveled. You can be the strongest of the strong; however, if you lack endurance or agility, you will most definitely NOT be standing atop the podium this Sunday with a $250,000 check from Reebok.
I am heading out with a group of friends (CrossFitters) at the end of this week to take in all that is the CrossFit Games. I haven’t been this excited about a sports competition in a long time.
I believe the experience will be MORE than just an incredible viewing spectacle, but one that will have all of us attending re-defining in OURSELVES the limits of what is possible. And really…how can you ask for anything more. The pursuit for me is always to become the best version of myself. If I can do that, then any other accolade or positive experience on top of that is the icing on that delicious icebox cake that I will devour at the end!
