The title of this blog is so imperative in life, in general. We all have good intentions, whether it be to clean the house, make time to go to lunch with a dear friend or take steps to accomplish a life goal. However, it's sometimes hard to set those intentions into action. The same goes for running…especially running.
Running is unquestionably 90% mental. That's why they say, grab a buddy and make a date to go running. It's, admittedly, hard to do on your own each and every day. Yes, some of my best runs are on my own. However, my most fun runs are most definitely with someone else. Plus, if you have a running buddy…they keep you 'honest.' No backing out of a run when someone else is expecting you.
I had a wonderful breakfast date with a good friend of mine in NYC today. She's the kind of friend who wants to see you succeed and vice versa. The kind of fr
iendship that can be hard to find in a city of over-achievers, competitive friends, and false facades. We both made a pact to get some things done in our lives in the next few months. Career things. The outcome, while important, is not nearly as important as the desire we both have to see each other succeed.
I hope you have someone in your life like that.
If they are also a running buddy…big props to you! Now, get your 'to-do' list out, dust it off, and make those things you WANT…HAPPEN.
